Angela Coombs, the Head of School at Academy of St. Joseph, sent Abacus Mom this comprehensive introduction to this warm, well-regarded Village school:

Academy of St. Joseph is a private, independent school steeped in the Catholic tradition and welcoming of children of all faiths.  We are accepting applications in PreK3 to 7th grades for the 2015-2016 academic year.  We still have a few places for the 2014 school year.

The mission of the Academy of St. Joseph is to provide a comprehensive education that fosters the intellectual, spiritual and moral development of students.  The academic and core curriculum are integrated with the teachings of the Catholic Church, the humanities, and the wisdom of the ages.

The Academy of St. Joseph is committed to fostering a new generation of leaders grounded in character, competence and compassion.  Our goal is to provide our students with experiences that will encourage them to excel at what they do, to embrace a cause or belief with passion and intelligence, and to strive at all times to treat people with respect and dignity.

Teachers are New York State certified.

Class size is limited to 18. Classes with 18 students have a teacher and an assistant.

Daily Spanish instruction is offered at all grade levels.

Chess, violin, art, music, library and physical education are offered as part of the daily school program.

A hot lunch and after school programs are provided.

The faculty is supported by a very active Parent Association.

We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you to the Academy of St. Joseph.  For further information or to arrange for a tour, please contact us at:
