Friends Seminary has dropped the ERB requirement for admission to kindergarten and first grade.   They’ve also improved their admissions essays.  Nice going, Friends!  True to the Quaker spirit of simplicity.

Dropping the ERB took some gumption from the Friends admissions officers.  The trend is toward requiring the ERB to show parents that your school is competitive.  Given that nearly everyone I know is prepping for the ERB exam including many nursery schools, four-year-olds all over NYC will appreciate that Friends is going against the trend, joining Calhoun, another trailblazer.

One quibble:  I don’t like the new ORCAS computerized system.  It’s a little tricky to use.
