Is It Easier to Get Into NYC Private Middle School (and High School) from Public School or Private School?

In my e-mail bag today:

My son goes to public school.   Is it harder to get into a good Manhattan private school coming from public school?  Will he be at a disadvantage versus other private school kids who are applying to change middle schools?

The answer:

It’s all about your son.  If he’s a top student, with top extracurricular activities, he can get into a top NYC private school, at the middle or high school grades, coming from public or private school.  Every year, I help my client students best position themselves for success in admissions.  Many of my public school clients have done extremely well with acceptances–it’s all about positioning.
