Sixth grade is a major transfer point for the New York City private schools. Notification of acceptance and rejection for grades 2-8 went out on Wednesday. The problem is, many schools notify by snail mail, leaving many families waiting by the mailbox, sometimes for days.
Given how much young kids and parents have riding on the decision, it would significantly reduce a lot of families’ stress if admissions directors could use modern technology to reduce wait times. How about more widespread email notification or web notification via password? Children deserve better than to be left hanging, wondering whether schools thought they were good enough.
