Pine Street School’s Middle School Campus to Expand with Support of New Leadership
Green Ivy International Schools, along with its parent company KSS Immersion Schools, has announced an exciting expansion for its Pine Street School’s middle school campus. Pine Street adds 40,000 square feet of space at 156 William Street in the Financial District, just a short walk from the school’s original location at 40 Wall Street. This expansion will enhance capacity for Pine Street School’s unique multilingual International Baccalaureate (IB) and entrepreneurship curriculum and provides a permanent, standalone learning space for middle school students to support high school preparatory curriculum and fine arts programming
The expanded middle school campus features modern classrooms, specialized spaces for engaged learning, a fine arts wing, science labs, a maker space, and a state-of-the-art athletics floor. These facilities are designed to support a comprehensive education that extends beyond traditional academics, fostering creativity, self-expression, and physical well-being. It also supports Mandarin Chinese and Spanish immersion courses with two full time teachers focused on teaching academic content in small groups. At least 50% of a student’s week is instructed in either Mandarin Chinese or Spanish at Pine Street School. Pine Street’s small-group instruction and individualized learning plans ensure that its students are fluently bilingual when they complete 8th grade and prepared to excel in New York’s most rigorous and selective high school programs.
“This expansion marks an exciting new chapter of growth for Pine Street that emphasizes the importance of providing our middle school students with their own unique space designed with their needs in mind,” said Gabriella Rowe, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Green Ivy schools. “The new space is an investment not only in the future of our school, but in our approach to nurturing the growth of each student’s academic, artistic, social, and cognitive skills to best prepare them for success in high school and beyond.”
Pine Street School, which enrolls 250+ students from pre-k through eighth grade is the only school in New York City and one of just a few in the world offering an IB’s primary years program and middle years program with dual language immersion options in both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. For families exploring preparatory top-tier IB schools in New York City, its middle school expansion underscores Pine Street School’s commitment to innovative education, and comprehensive student development. It offers the only community-focused learning experience in the Financial District.
