Grace Church High School Has at Least 4 Innovative Ideas

Sophia Hollander reports in  New School Sets Agenda: Grace Church Adding Facility to Open in 2012 With Innovative Lesson Plan that Avenues’ entrance into the New York City private schools scene has shaken up some established schools. Grace Church School is now following Calhoun with some radical new ideas for its new high school, opening in 2012:

• Students “sourcing” ingredients and cooking lunch for other students
• Wednesday field trips
• “March Madness” = independent projects
• Chewing over ideas from the information age library in the cafeteria next door

My advice to Grace Church?  If you get too weird, modern-day parents shy away and go for traditional programs.  Maybe follow Avenues’ lead, and put in a college prep “Mastery” program or something like that.
