This fall, I believe that:
- Families will be applying to more schools;
- Applying earlier;
- Feeling more frenzied, whether it is justified or not. (We don’t know the impact of financial uncertainty and how that will impact demand for private school, particularly the less competitive private schools.)
Don’t look to the private schools to tamp down on the frenzy. In my experience, they stoke it, because they feel New Yorkers only value what is hard to get.
