Help with the Admissions Test for Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, and Brooklyn Tech

Students can enter the specialized science high schools only in the 9th  or 10th grade.  The sole admissions requirement is a stellar score on the Specialized Science High School Admissions Test (known formally as the SSHSAT, and informally as the Sci High Exam).  During this 2 1/2 hour ordeal, students sweat through multiple-choice math and verbal questions.

To put pencil to paper, test-takers must be 8th or 9th graders and residents of New York City.  Your first step - get a free copy of the Student Handbook for the Specialized Science High Schools from your school, or call 212-481-7034.  This booklet contains practice questions.

If you want additional help, Jonathan Arak's Cracking the Sci-High Exam (Princeton Review) is an excellent and affordable book.  You can get it from Amazon by clicking here.
