Help with the Admissions Test for Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, and Brooklyn Tech |

Students can enter the specialized science high schools only in the 9th or 10th grade. The sole admissions requirement is a stellar score on the Specialized Science High School Admissions Test (known formally as the SSHSAT, and informally as the Sci High Exam). During this 2 1/2 hour ordeal, students sweat through multiple-choice math and verbal questions. To put pencil to paper, test-takers must be 8th or 9th graders and residents of New York City. Your first step - get a free copy of the Student Handbook for the Specialized Science High Schools from your school, or call 212-481-7034. This booklet contains practice questions. If you want additional help, Jonathan Arak's Cracking the Sci-High Exam (Princeton Review) is an excellent and affordable book. You can get it from Amazon by clicking here.
